Welcome to the official website of the Offshore Model Racing Association. Established in the 1960s and formalised in 1971, OMRA is understood to be the worlds longest established marine RC race series to run in genuine offshore conditions. OMRA is recognised around the world as the inspiration for true Offshore Model Powerboat Racing and nurtures a long-term commitment to stimulating the design, development, construction, sport-running and racing of model offshore powerboats at a national level, providing services, support and governance for grass-roots enthusiasts and racers alike.
The OMRA championships are amongst the safest, most accessible and most affordable forms of competitive motorsport today. The organising team is made up of active racers from across the membership and works to deliver in excess of 100 championship races over 21 rounds across 9 race classes, every year.
OMRA race events are held at some of the most picturesque and attractive venues around the UK. On race days, up to 6 classes will run with a minimum total race duration of 30 minutes each. Races are usually split across two heats. Each event is promoted through the local Council, local media and Tourist Board, and often large crowds line the shore to watch the spectacular racing. With the best of venues, and race classes to suit all preferences and budgets, OMRA racing appeals to racers, fans and sponsors, young and old, novice and expert alike.
Why not join us at one of our many venues and have a chat with some of the members – who knows, you could even end up as a National Champion!
